My Apocalypse Shopping List

galactic alignment1 300x190 My Apocalypse Shopping List

According to the ancient Mayan calendar, the end of the year will be coming on December 21st, 2012.  I began thinking about it and I realized I’m pretty unprepared.  Now, I want to survive the Apocalypse just as much as the next person…but if you’re like me, don’t want to pay full price for survival supplies just in case the ancient calendar is (gasp) wrong.  So, I present to you my discounted “apocalypse shopping list” with the help of Spreadsave.com:

Running shoes:  The end of the world is coming, so what will you be wearing?  I’m not sure what I might find myself running from, but I think I should be equipped with proper footwear so I can sprint to my full ability (which is not very fast).  Good thing there’s an exclusive link for $15 off $100 or more for Sports Authority if you take my advice and want to grab yourself a great pair of athletic sneakers as well.

Outerwear:  Having experienced some severe weather conditions recently, I’ve gained a new appreciation for a warm, waterproof jacket.  I don’t know what kind of weather the end of the world will bring but Columbia is offering 30% off any order right now so I plan to take advantage of it.

Last meal:  If the end of the world is really coming, I want to make sure I have something delicious to eat as my last memory.  Everyone knows Jelly Belly jellybeans come in a variety of unique flavors, so I think this is a good choice for everyone (I mean, you can enjoy the taste of popcorn, root beer, and pina colada in one pack!)  And right now, you can $5 off your order of $25 or more… that’s pretty sweet.

Everyone’s survival list is different…but regardless of what might be on yours, you shouldn’t pay full price.  So Reason #6 why I Love Spreadsave:  Providing the best deals on supplies for 12/21/12 and beyond.

Don’t Wake Me, I Plan on Sleeping In

snooze pic1 300x225 Dont Wake Me, I Plan on Sleeping InI don’t know about you, but I’ve never been one for waking up early.  I think of daylight savings time as nature’s way of telling me to stay in bed longer.  I have some serious respect for those of you that come out of a “turkey coma” to go shopping at the crack of dawn the next day, but this blog post is not for you.  This blog post is for those of us who can appreciate a good night’s sleep after filling our stomachs to capacity.  The following Spreadsave stores are offering their Back Friday deals now so you can hit the snooze button a few times Friday morning and not miss out on the discounts!

Right now Sears is offering some great sales on Black Friday ticket items, like this 47” LED HGTV for only $699.99!  Deals like these make me wonder what I would do if it weren’t for the internet…I can only laugh at the thought of trying to physically obtain this item in a herd of crazed shoppers on Black Friday!

Lowe’s is also offering some great deals, and you can get free shipping on your orders of $45 or more.  I don’t know about you but I always have a hard time shopping for the guys in my family.  So this year they’re all getting power tools…I heard they like that kind of stuff.

In true hipster fashion (literally), Urban Outfitters is offering some great merchandise so you can shop Black Friday before it becomes too mainstream.  Items start at only $5 and you can get some really great stuff like moustache bandages, so you can observe “Movember” without having to deal with the hassle of growing out your facial hair!

Of course, when you shop through Spreadsave it’s like everyday is Black Friday! icon smile Dont Wake Me, I Plan on Sleeping In We put all the deals together in one place so you don’t have to search around to know you’re getting the best deals possible.  So tomorrow you can help yourself to seconds knowing you have the next morning to sleep it off!

Reason #5 why I Love Spreadsave: Black Friday deals every day of the year!

Happy Blogvember!

wine Happy Blogvember!

Grapes AND fermentation is a good combination too!

As our name implies, Spreadsave likes to combine things.  We like to help people “save”, and we really like it when they “spread” those savings to their friends and family.  We want to make it easy as possible for you, the saver, by offering a site that combines all your favorite stores and the best deals for them.  I like to combine things too, and I’m mildly upset that missed the opportunity to use the word “Blogtober” last month!  So, in the name of saving in Blogvember, here are some great deals that you can combine for extra satisfaction:

  • Nothing helps me relax more than curling up with a good book and a hot cup of tea after a long day of work.  Right now, you can get a coupon code for Mighty Leaf  Tea for 15% off green teas.  Then visit Abebooks.com for the newest novels and free shipping.  (I know The Racketeer is next on my reading list!)

Of course, if you’re partial to more traditional combinations, you can always head on over to Restaurant.com and use one of our nearly 50 deals to get some great gift cards for those “dinner and a movie” nights, where you can get “soup and salad”, or maybe just “dessert and drinks”…okay, I’m getting carried away now.

Reason #4 Why I Love Spreadsave: great deals on winning combinations!

On Sandy and Saving

iheartnyc 300x200 On Sandy and SavingSorry I’ve been a little quiet!  Living in the New York-metropolitan area means I got hit with a serious amount of weather last week and made for a temporary change in priorities.  Fortunately, my personal situation is better than most of the others in my area.  I’ve been volunteering for the past few days to help those in need, but there are ways you can help too right from the comfort of your own (hopefully undamaged) home, just by shopping through Spreadsave!  How, you might ask?  Well as you know, Spreadsave features deals from some the nation’s top companies, and many are stepping up to the plate to help restore the areas impacted by hurricane Sandy.  Check out the following brands that are pitching in to help out:

-          Walmart has said it will donate $1.5 million to the relief effort.  Check out their store page to get the best savings on ipads, baby products, and more!

-           Kohl’s has donated $1 million to the Red Cross and is offering additional corporate grants to the non-profits their employees are supporting.  With this deal, you can get free shipping on orders of $75 or more!

-          Walgreens has pledged $250,000 to the Red Cross in addition to donating supplies on a local level in New York and New Jersey.  Spreadsave features some great coupon codes so you can save up to 20% on everything from contacts to photo orders! Did we mention free shipping?
